Groundhog Day (1993)

Bill Murray plays a weatherman who walks around a small city in Pennsylvania and gets the feeling he's done it before. A ridiculous plot makes it so, he wakes up to the same song every day and goes through the same day, Groundhog Day, just about as he has done previously. Though this would never happen it makes for a Christian movie where the main character doesn't like his ways and changes during the film into a likeable do-gooder who finds a way to love everyday people like his producer Rita (Andie MacDowell). He tries to kill himself and yet he still wakes up repeating the previous day still stuck in the same hotel and the same city. He confesses to Rita "I'm a god." He proves his power by predicting what will happen and by telling her the intimate details of the people in the restaurant. He learns how to play the piano and makes the kewlest ice sculpture. He inspires me to look for the good in the world and be somebody who tries to improve and embellish his life where the opportunities lay. He finally begins to love and this makes for an unforgettable day. GROUNDHOG DAY is warm and has the power to transform our lives and I had to see it again. [4.5 stars]
