A young female agent of the Drug Enforcement Agency raids a house in Arizona and finds dozens of dead people crammed in the woodwork. She is recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency to go escalate violence on the Mexican-American border. They find Guillermo in Juarez and a man from the Medellin cartel (Benicio Del Toro) extricates information from him to put it mildly. This leads them to a tunnel through which drugs are trafficked and a hostile greeting with bullets blazing. A police officer in Phoenix comes on to the DEA agent but the cartel dude follows her to protect her from the dirty officer. He confronts a big shot in the Mexican drug business and threatens violence for what they did to his family. There is a kewl confrontation between him and the female agent at SICARIO's climax. I found the strategy the United States government is taking in the drug war interesting and should warn people of the graphic nature of what one sees as they undertake this strategy. [4.1 stars]
