A boy named Thomas is lifted up an elevator to a peaceful glade. He can't remember his name and the events in his life. A huge wall blocks them in but they think they can escape since it forms the edge of a huge maze. A very kewl set up and the tension is immediate. I as the viewer want to see Thomas and the other boys he joins, figure out how to get through the maze. It has a Lord Of The Flies feel to it as there is a leader and various factions serving roles this small community needs to exist. The boys cannot stay in the maze at night because there are bloodthirsty creatures who come out and destroy any forms of life who attempt to roam the maze. There is a glimmer of possible escape when Thomas find an object with the letters WCKD inscribed on it. THE MAZE RUNNER was made as the first part of a trilogy, at least as far as we know at the moment. This one is like STAR WARS since as it ends you feel like it's not over. [4.2 stars]
