We are somewhere in the future where people live desperately and don't ask questions, they just do. A man named Max is chased by the living and the dead. We're not quite sure what that means, I do not recall much of what I saw of the previous films involving this character and you might not too. He is important to the people living in the desert because he is a universal blood donor. We meet a woman (Charlize Theron) who drives a rig away to somewhere without permission from the head honcho. We don't know where but the sheer imperative to survive seems to explain enough and the kewl cologne following MAD MAX FURY ROAD along is it never overexplains and it never overtalks. It just does. The action sequences are top of the line and often make talk seem trite, maybe that's why dialogue is sparse. When the film gets near the end we see why things are the way they are, for her, for Max it doesn't seem to matter. This post-apocalyptic world doesn't have much to offer a good life with wife and kids anyway. We leave with a satisfying conclusion and we know enough of this place to feel that is was real and that the action was warranted. [4.3 stars]
