The Thin Red Line (1998)

War film about the South Pacific during WWII as the the Yankees try to stop Japan. This has a dream-like quality to it as the soldiers narrate over the picture, if narrate is the correct word, perhaps think might work as well. Outstanding footage of battles, I think I ducked one time, but the real winner of THE THIN RED LINE is the casting director. You see George Clooney, Nick Nolte and Sean Penn and many others take in the gruesome sight that is war. A kewl tense moment occurs when a soldier disobeys a direct order. Memorable action and reflection follows making this one of the great war films ever to hit celluloid. [4.7 stars]
