A simply titled science-fiction action drama with new cast members taking on the roles taken from the television series. This time we have an undeveloped villain (well, he has tattoos) who seeks to harm Spock due to something that "may" have happened in the past. Yes, there is a time warp thing tossed into this. Bond-like opening but Captain Kirk's background is kewl and even more emotionally wracking. Some plot ideas are galactically improbable but in this genre you go-with-the-flow or risk being called unimaginative. I am glad they got rid of William Shatner and brought on new blood and that freshness may have contributed to the most entertaining of ALL of these movies, yes I said all. STAR TREK is a blast of pop rock candy in your mouth. [4.7 stars]
