High Noon (1952)

One of the great Westerns, here a marshal must defend a small town but that town begins to look less and less worth defending. The marshal (Gary Cooper) is betrayed by his underling, is given the cold shoulder by his wife, his ex, and the people he would think would help him against the bad guys, don't seem to be around. HIGH NOON is about wrong and right and the marshal seems noble and it rips your heart out to see how he, like Christ, must suffer and we begin to explore the fabric of ourselves as we watch the Western unfold. What took them so long to make another good one. [4.3 stars]
