Cast Away (2000)

Bless the establishment for making a movie where there is no dialogue for a long stretch of the film. CAST AWAY stars Tom Hanks as an island survivor of a crash and awaits rescue. He has a girl in the civilized world he desperately wishes to see and has to look for ways to eat and drink and I thought there were many interesting things the filmmakers thought of that engaged the audience. But the ending has a wrinkle in it that was beautifully handled and that brought me over to putting it in this ensemble of kewl cinema. [4.4 stars]
