Blow Out (1981)

Tense drama bringing together a street walker, a sound man and a politician who could win a presidential election.  BLOW OUT keeps you on the edge as danger lurks around the corner for a sound man who records something that has huge implications.  Stylistic climax goes over the top and you whisper (if not yell) to your-self "overdramatic."  The journey I took still felt satisfying as the soundman (John Travolta) acts kewl under pressure and lifts this celluloid to another plateau, thank god we don't have to endure the GREASE and WELCOME BACK KOTTER teen not-yet-grown Travolta. Some resemblances to the French film BLOW-UP can be overlooked. [4.2 stars]
