Great crime thriller centered on the identity of two moles. Martin Scorsese has made another stand-out film with Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio as his stars, who try to remain undetected with great stakes in play. There is a kewl spiral created by William Monahan's screenplay, the protagonist and antagonist each seek each other out and slowly creep closer to each other as the film develops to its climax, which is really two climaxes, that's how good THE DEPARTED is. The Mafia shows up and danger dances throughout while I sat transfixed by how it would end. [5 stars]
