JFK (1991)

Not sure what possessed the director Oliver Stone to choose Kevin Costner to play the lead character in his charged JFK which examines the possibility of conspiracy in our president's death. Some odd things took place but nothing seems to add up in explaining it. An important clue, the kewl part of the film, leading us to keep watching to see what develops is the fact that the shots came too quickly for one man using a rifle to finish the job not to mention that accuracy takes time for a sharpshooter. We watch Jim Garrison gather clues and let his family drift away while his investigation carries on.  We watch dialogue which no one I know takes seriously. We watch his office find a bug in their office. We watch one of their best informant die from suspicious circumstances. We watch Garrison run away from a bathroom where he might be set up as a homosexual. We watch the magic bullet theory be ridiculed. All this intrigues but we wind up with an ending that's inconsequential and an actor that does little to make us angry how justice is served. Informed people and political junkies will like this. [4.1 stars]
