Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

For those who haven't seen the first film, this is an entertaining celluloid release. I should know since I did not see the first one either. The one thing that lingered was the nature of the relationship between the female lead, Gamora, and the male lead, Peter. Here the male lead learns his father has been looking for him and offers him a chance to see the father's home planet and most likely fill in the blanks on why he left his son and wife on Earth. An interruption in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 occurs when the Sovereigns with their kewl-looking wardrobe come blasting in looking for a power source stolen by Rocket, a little raccoon who has a sarcastic mouth. Meanwhile a sideplot develops involving Gamora's sister who seems to have one thing on her mind...destruction. This makes for a handy plot device which the filmmakers employ to their cinematic content. Then something goes sideways involving Peter's father that makes for a mind-blowing denouement. The script has funny lines and some good character reveals that make this summer sci-fi hit worth a trip to the big screen. [4.2 stars]
