Constant smiles and guffawing populate this long madcap film with one of the best casts you'll ever get in a film, Buster Keaton, Jack Benny, Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Ethel Merman, Jonathan Winters and Buddy Hackett to name a few. There are a lot of sight gags as a bunch of people find out along a highway that a moolah of money is to be found buried at a park. They become unreasonable and start streaking to the money as fast as they can, they drive, fly airplanes, ride bicycles and one almost drowns. The sight of Ethel Merman as Mrs. Marcus barking out commands to everybody had me in stitches even though I've seen it many times. Meanwhile the police have them under surveillance while they go on a happy-go-lucky crime spree. It was so kewl to see these comedians ply their craft from a previous generation. IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD stands up today and beats out RIDE ALONG and RIDE ALONG 2 as offerings of what today's generation of comedy has produced. The ending doesn't really matter since you've had a bellyful and are ready to move on to the next part of your day by the time the credits roll. [4.1 stars]
