A young man (Robert Redford) has great potential to be a star pitcher in the big leagues but runs across a mysterious woman derailing him from promised greatness. This is a stupendous sports film that warms you and carries the values of baseball's roots within it. I liked the manager in the film (Wilford Brimley) but especially kewl was how you felt when the young man did to the stadium when the pressure was the highest. Not only does this leave an impact but has special value for the young man as he is also at odds with a gambling man who may have affected his decision to be in the big leagues as a younger man.
