This is the second Oliver Stone flick we've done and may be his best. He went to Vietnam and served and some of what he went through shows up in PLATOON. Charlie Sheen plays Taylor who is green and raw to the field and sees his first action quickly. There is infighting among the sergeants in the American military which torques Taylor's views of things...but actually a lot of things are twisted and torqued which Stone has an avidity to detail. I thought it eye-opening when he tells you who really is fighting the war over there. I identify with those men and Taylor who has honorable reasons for being there. The kewlest feature was how he made the filmwatching experience similar to what the combat soldier underwent. The enemy is seemingly coming from many areas and you never know where they are or when they'll strike. The disorientedness was a big plus since it aids us in feeling what Vietnam was about at the front lines. [4.8 stars]
