Point Break (1991)

The best bank robbers the FBI has ever seen, the ex-Presidents, are on the loose but Angelo Pappas (Gary Busey) has a hunch they are surfers so he sends Johnny Utah to go undercover. Utah (Keanu Reeves) learns from a woman how to surf and she turns out to be Bodhi's girlfriend. And ladies and gentleman Bodhi is the bad guy, get it...Johnny Utah can pretend to be a friend and find the loot and lock those surfers up. But the flick can't end that fast so they put a botched effort on Utah's part in the script and there is a methadone-dealing group of dudes in the mix of a mass spray of bullets but no matter the chase goes on. They find out Johnny Utah is under cover and now Johhny has to do a heist with them. Great now the movie can last a little longer and maybe we can have a sex scene. Well Johnny botches up again, he's a rookie I forgot to mention, and the band of do-badders get some dough and Johnny gets the cuffs. No  problem we still have a kewl parachute scene and some money floating in the air. Now the movie is almost over and Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) has to do something over-the-top to justify why they call this POINT BREAK. But you probably know and it's best to leave the audience guessing a bit in case they want to rent it. Free spiritedness and some titillating scenes lift this puppy out of mediocrity. [4.1 stars]
