Fury (2014)

The German tanks and equipment in the second world war are superior yet they lost. FURY shows how that could happen. Don (Brad Pitt) fearlessly leads his men in battle requiring courage yet he doesn't allow his men to see how war affects him. A new member of his tank team is brought in since the old one died. The new one is raw and has never seen battle. He is forced to shoot a German officer; the gun was held in his hand by Don so we're not quite sure who pulled the trigger. Life has a way of balancing things so by the time the action stops in this engaging war film, we see how his conscience has consequences. Conscience has a say in who lives and who dies. This is the final battle, involving over 200 German men against one tank, a barely working tank I might add, which was occupied by Don and his four soldiers. It makes for great storytelling and a kewl battle scene. The way the enemy responded to the tank lacked some reality but the turmoil here is intense and rewarding. There is even a scene with two women that has a lovely touch to it but this is really a testosterone-filled flick. [4.4 stars]
