Here we have the frontiersmen confronting the native indigenous peoples. A man named Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is one these pioneers who hunts for pelts and runs for safety when the natives shoot arrows at him and his compatriots. Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) doesn't like Glass' plan to survive and so tries to smother him after Glass got mauled by a bear. Glass has a son who spots him and ends up dead because Fitzgerald didn't want to get caught. The idea of revenge looms larger and larger as THE REVENANT continues. It is so kewl to watch this film, I felt like I was outdoors as there are long takes and the river is ever present. You forget you are at the cinema. DANCES WITH WOLVES is conjured up as Glass meets a Pawnee who shares a bison meal with him. This is the best I've seen DiCaprio as he fully takes on his character. [4.4 stars]
