The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976)

Inspector Clouseau returns to the screen and this time his former boss (Herbert Lom) goes mad and has a machine that turns things invisible and wants Clouseau dead. Cato reappears early in THE PINK PANTHER STRIKES AGAIN and there is some amusement, but I am getting tired of this routine. A bomb explodes but expectedly Clouseau (Peter Sellers) flubs his way to safety. The real beauty of this comedy is the castle scene. The bungling inspector dresses up to infiltrate the lair of the bad guy and has to pull a tooth to get away unscathed. This is the kewlest madcap scene just about ever, it had me in stitches and watched it again as if the nitrous oxide seeped through my TV screen. The President Ford joke is snuck in and is welcome for its cheekiness. He may actually sleep next to a Wolverine helmet. A SHOT IN THE DARK is the funniest Pink Panther movie but this one has the best scene. [4.2 stars]
