Superb war flick about an American team of bomb-defusers in occupied Iraq. A hurt locker is a bad painful place but it could also be the suit worn by a defuser who has to approach a bomb knowing that some bad guy may be watching him as he tries to dismantle it. The director tries to under-stand why the main character (Jeremy Renner) gets such a rush in this task when there is so much danger. THE HURT LOCKER has a kewl action sequence involving violence that takes you by surprise but also helps you understand first-hand what these men do. I loved the suspense and thought it was a unique look at the military conflict in Iraq that felt as absorbing as it did precarious. [5 stars]
